Theodore Burt Tallman

     Theodore Burt Tallman was born on 15 September 1874 at Essex Co, New York.^2,1 He was the son of Edward Tallman and Clarissa Minerva Wade. Theodore Burt Tallman married Julia N. Laramy on 26 February 1895 at Charlotte, Chittenden Co, Vermont.^3,1,4 Theodore Burt Tallman died after 18 April 1930 at Plattsburgh, Clinton Co, New York; Theodore Tallman, 56, was living alone in the 1930 census.⁵
     A notice posted in the Platsburgh Sentinel 16 Jan 1891 indicates he was adopted as a son of Jacob M. Lobdell as Herbert T. Lobdell, but when he left his home, Jacob denounced all responsibility, mentioning he was formerly known as Theodore Tallman. The posting listed a date of 24 Nov 1891, wich must have been a mistype for 1890.⁶ On 12 September 1918, Theodore registered for the WW I draft in Clinton Co, NY, giving his age as 43, birthdate, residence as 132 Cornelia, Plattsburgh, and that he was self-employed in cabinetry. He said he was short, with a medium build, with brown eyes and hair, naming Julia Tallman of the ame address as his contact.¹ He appeared on the census of 15 January 1920 at Plattsburgh, Clinton Co, New York; Theodore Tallman, 46, Julia, 45, and children Helen, 18, Frederick, 16, Mildred, 14, Ernest, 13, and Panse, 11. All children born in Vermont. Theodore was b. NY as were both parents; Julia b. Vermont, her father b. NY, mother b. VT. Theodore was renting a home on Cornelia Street and was a cabinet maker.⁴
