Abraham Salls was born circa 1760. He was the son of Isaac Salls and Hannah Hawley. Abraham Salls was baptized on 21 August 1770 at New Canaan, Columbia Co, New York.1 He married Thankful (?) circa 1780. Abraham Salls married Phebe Filer, daughter of Samuel Filer and Jerusha Hopping, circa 1792 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec. Abraham Salls married Margaret Miller, daughter of Henry Miller and Mary (?), circa 1804; It had to have taken place before 1 Mar 1805. Abraham Salls died after 1827 at Missisquoi Co, Quebec.
Abraham Salls and wife Margaret sell land now around the Bush Cemetery in Alburg to Henry Manning on 1 Mar 1805.2 Abraham Salls, farmer of Noyan, appeared before the notary, J.E. Faribault, on 14 April 1827, to make a donation to his son, Filer Salls. The land was the south part of lot# 9 on the Fourth Concession in the seigniory of Noyan, containing about 18 acres. He also gave Filer any farm implements and cattle belonging to that lot. This was in exchange for life rent for himself and his wife, Peggy Miller, 12 bushels "merchantable wheat, 8 bushels corn, 200 pounds of good fat pork, ten bushels of potatoes...". This life rent was to be paid yearly on January first. Abraham added a few other stipulations. Filer was to provide lodging for him, and "likewise washing and also to cause his vitals to be cooked" as long as he stayed with him. The writer assumes this meant "vittles", not "vitals". Abraham also expected Filer to care for him in illness, "except paying doctor's bill", giving over any profits made from the cows to him, and he was reserving the right to occupy the house built by Filer on that property, if his wife ever recovered her eyesight.
