     Samuel Tallman was born on 2 October 1857 at New York. He was the son of David Tallman and Aurilla Smith. Samuel Tallman was baptized on 16 March 1858 at Russelltown Methodist Church, Russelltown, Huntingdon Co, Quebec.1 He married Emma Evangeline Merrill on 7 February 1878 at Garden Valley, Jackson Co, Wisconsin; Sheri Stuve mentions they were married in a garden ceremony, and gives her last name as Merritt. They were said to have lived for some time in Merrilan, Wisconsin after their marriage.2,3 Samuel Tallman died circa 1900 at Minnesota.4
     He appeared on the census of 8 June 1880 at Otter Creek, Eau Claire Co, Wisconsin.5
