John Russell Watson was born circa 1867 at Rockburn, New Hampshire. He was the son of William M. Watson and Mary Potter. John Russell Watson married Anna Laura Hennagin, daughter of David Hennagin and Barbara Arthur, on 31 December 1891 at Mooers, Clinton Co, New York.
Right after their marriage, the Watsons removed to Lebanon, New Hampshire. It is likely that both John and Anna Laura died young, or ran into problems, as their son Arthur was said to have been raised by his Aunt Edith.
The 1910 census shows sons David and Arthur, 12 and 6, living with their granparents, David and Barbara Hennigan in Altona, NY.
