Samuel Covey

     Samuel Covey was born on 16 January 1836 at Russelltown, Huntingdon Co, Quebec. He was the son of Henry Covey and Susan (?). Samuel Covey was baptized on 24 March 1846 at Russelltown Methodist Church, Russelltown, Huntingdon Co, Quebec, by Rev. M. McDonald.¹ He married Betsy C. McGee before 1865. Samuel Covey married Elizabeth Jane Coates circa 1871 at New York.² Samuel Covey died before 1910 at New York; Samuel died before 1910 as his widow was living with their son George in Bedford, Westchester Co for the enumeration of that census.³
     He appeared on the census of 1880 at Clinton, Clinton Co, New York; James Covey, 45, b. Can, Janie, 31, b. NY, Edgar, 7, George, 6, Walter, 4 and Thomas, 2.⁴ As of 1880, Samuel Covey was also known as James Covey.⁵ He appeared on the census of 15 June 1900 at Potsdam, St Lawrence Co, New York; Daniel/Samuel Covey, 63, Elizabeth, 50, married 28 years, 6 children, 4 living. Thomas, 22, Edward, 27 with wife Edith, 22, dau Hattie, 9, and grandson, Herbert, 4.²
