Samuel Hawley Salls

     Samuel Hawley Salls was born in October 1777 at New Lebanon, Columbia Co, New York. He was the son of Samuel Salls and Rachel (?). Samuel Hawley Salls was baptized on 19 September 1779 at Canaan, Columbia Co, New York; entered in the record as Sam'el Holly Searls.¹ He married Mary Garfield on 4 April 1826 at Lee, Berkshire Co, Massachusetts; Samuel Hawley Salls was of Canaan, New York at the time of marriage.² Samuel Hawley Salls died on 17 April 1864 at Canaan, Columbia Co, New York, at age 86. He was buried at Village Cemetery, Canaan, Columbia Co, New York.
     Again, to add to much of the confusion over whether the wife of Isaac Salls, Sr was a Hawley or a Holly, or if their name was actually Salls or Searls, the baptism for Samuel was written as Samuel Holly, son of Samuel and Rachel Searls.³
