     George Garth Holt was born circa 1797 at Sorel, Richelieu Co, Quebec; His age was listed as three on 26 April 1800.1 He was the son of Moses Holt and Esther Solomon. George Garth Holt married Mariah L. (?) before 1840. George Garth Holt died after 1 June 1860 at Florida.
     He appeared on the census of 1840 at [no township listed], Leon Co, Florida; At this time, he was aged 40-50, with a wife 30-40 and a daughter under 5 years of age. He appeared on the census of 16 October 1850 at St Marks Port, Wakulla Co, Florida; George G. Holt, 57, Mariah, 46, Esther M., 7, and George P.M., 5. George was running a boarding house and had five other boarders there.2 He appeared on the census of 1 June 1860 at Newport, Wakulla Co, Florida; G.G. Holt, 67, Justice Peace, born Canada, wife Mariah G., 56, born Georgia, Estella M., 17 and George M, 15, both born Florida.3
