Eliza Jane Tallman was born on 28 June 1842 at Quebec.1,2 She was the daughter of Daniel S. Tallman and Delia Stringer. Eliza Jane Tallman married Thomas Israel Larmour on 15 August 1864 at St Romain Catholic Church, Hemmingford, Huntingdon Co, Quebec.1 Eliza Jane Tallman died on 14 August 1939 at at home, Michigamme, Marquette Co, Michigan, at age 97; Daily Mining Journal, Marquette, Michigan -August 15, 1939
Mrs. Larmour, 97, Dies in Michigamme Home
Eliza Jane Larmour, 97, one of the upper peninsula's oldest residents, died at her home in Michigamme this evening after a long illness. Born June 26, 1842, she had resided in Michigamme more than 40 years. She was the widow of Thomas Larmour, veteran of the Civil War. She leaves seven daughters, three sons, 74 grandchildren, 158 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
The sons are Andrew, who lives in Pennsylvania; William of Ishpeming and George of Sault Ste. Marie. The daughters are: Mrs. Frank Perry, Mrs. Lowney Beauchine, Mrs. Gert Guidebeck and Mrs. Armose Labine of Michigamme; Mrs. William Parr, Limestone; Mrs. Wallace McCombie and Mrs. John Benson of Marquette.1
Eliza Jane Tallman was also known as Aloysia Tallman. As of 15 August 1864, Eliza Jane Tallman was also known as Louise Tolman.3 She was raised speaking fluent French and spoke that language until death. She was a tiny person with red hair and a very energetic worker. She did not go far in school, indeed it is unclear whether she had the opportunity to go to school and was unable to read or write. She made her mark as an "X" with witnesses rather than signing her name.1
