     Charles Adolphus Holt was born on 8 September 1798. He was the son of William Johnson Holt and Ruah Stevens. Charles Adolphus Holt was baptized on 4 November 1798 at Sorel, Richelieu Co, Quebec; Christ Church Anglican. He married Esther Emmeline Henshaw in 1821 at St Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Montreal, Montreal Co, Quebec.
     Supposedly, Charles Adolphus Holt was the only son to have surviving male children, of whom the eldest was Charles Gates Holt.
