Richard Scott was born circa 1794. He was the son of John Scott and Dorcus Freeman. Richard Scott married Mercy Healey on 27 September 1815 at Dunham, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.1
Richard Scott appeared on the census of 14 September 1860 at Cooper, Kalamazoo Co, Michigan; Richard Scott, 66 and wife Mercy, 64, were living with Edwin Scott, 23 and wife Sarah, 18. They were right next to two other sons, Rodman and John.2 He appeared on the census of 4 June 1870 at Trowbridge, Allegan Co, Michigan; Richard Scott, 78, Mercy, 78, Edrick, 34, Sarah, 27. Next door was Rachel Scott and her children.3
