     Nicholas James Longeway was born on 13 December 1852 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.1 He was the son of Peter Daniel Longeway and Mary Elizabeth Garland. Nicholas James Longeway was baptized on 11 August 1853 at Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.1 He married Mina Estella Kearns on 30 December 1891 at Magog, Stanstead Co, Quebec.2,3 Nicholas James Longeway died on 26 September 1923 at Stanstead Co, Quebec, at age 70.2 He was buried at Pine Hill Cemetery, Magog, Stanstead Co, Quebec.2
     He appeared on the census of 1880 at Peru, Bennington Co, Vermont, and was a woodchopper. He and his brother Myron were living in the household of Mitchel Seymour.4 He appeared on the census of 1911 at Hatley Street, Magog, Stanstead Co, Quebec; Nicholas J. Longeway, 58, Estella, 47, Thomas Kearns, 79, b. Ireland, J. Homer Kearns, 45, and John Love, 36, b. Quebec.5
