     Asenath Nokes was born circa 1793 at Champlain, Clinton Co, New York.1 She was the daughter of Morris Nokes.1 Asenath Nokes married James Hunter. Asenath Nokes married Zephaniah Grimshaw on 22 September 1847; After having many children by Zephaniah Grimshaw, the two finally married in 1847. She was listed as a widow.1 Asenath Nokes died in 1863 at Ontario. She was buried at Methodist Reid's Church Cemetery, Egremont, Grey Co, Ontario.2
      Asenath Nokes was also known as Sentha Noakes. Asenath Nokes was also known as Asentha Noakes. "He [Zeph] was living in Mooers, Clinton County, NY by 1820, where he became romantically involved with his neighbour (& brother-in-law's?) wife, Asenath. According to Eunice (Covey) Tucker, 'Zephinire Junior Grisham came along and fell in love with Senith and chased Grandpa Hunter away.' By 1822, he and Sentha had moved to Huntingdon Co., PQ, where he lived for the next 45+ years. Zephaniah and Sentha proceeded to have eleven more children together over the next 20+ years, without benefit of clergy. Zephaniah and Sentha finally married in 1847."1,3"
