     James Covey was born on 23 December 1811 at Stanstead, Stanstead Co, Quebec.1,2 He was the son of Archibald Covey and Susanna Hall. James Covey married Harriet Jane Brown. James Covey married Rectina Brown. James Covey married Ann Plumte, daughter of John H. Plumte and Mary B. Johnston, on 2 April 1871 at Little Falls, La Cross Co, Wisconsin.3 James Covey died on 5 May 1899 at North Bend, Jackson Co, Wisconsin, at age 87.1 He was buried at Farmington Cemetery, Farmington, La Crosse Co, Wisconsin.4
     He appeared on the census of 1870 at Farmington, La Crosse Co, Wisconsin; James Covey, 58, farmer, b. Canada; James 18, b. Canada; Seneca, 15, b. Canada; Gilbert, 12, b. WI; Ester A., 5, b. WI, and Harriet, 21, b. Canada.5 He appeared on the census of 1880 at Melrose, Jackson Co, Wisconsin; James Covey was living with his son-in-law August Timm and his family. It indicates his birthplace as Ontario.6
