     Charles E. Dean was born on 2 November 1870 at Hunslet, Yorks, England; Info from the 1871 census, when he and his parents were living with the widowed Sarah Munday Dean in Hunslet.1,2 He was the son of John Munday Dean and Mary Ann Fullon Dudley. Charles E. Dean married Marion E. Elliott, daughter of William Elliott and Hattie (?). Charles E. Dean died on 5 May 1936 at Putnam, Windham Co, Connecticut, at age 65.2
     Charles Dean attended the schools in Lowell, Massachusetts. He became associated with his father and brother in the family business, then known as the General Phonograph Company. In 1923 he severed those connections and formed the Lowell Needle Company.2 He appeared on the census of 3 January 1920 at Putnam, Windham Co, Connecticut; Charles E. Dean, 49, b. England, wife Mary E., 39, b. MA, son Elliott D., 14, also b. MA. Charles came to the United States in 1877, and was naturalized in 1884.3
