Hiram Covey was born on 28 September 1801 at Lisle, Broome Co, New York. He was the son of Hope Covey and Eunice Yarnes. Hiram Covey married Aurelia Ann Clinton in 1826. Hiram Covey died on 7 April 1874 at Oskaloosa, Mahaska Co, Iowa, at age 72.
According to information received from Jan Gardiner, e-mail dated 12 April 1999, info on Hiram was found within Quist's book. Both Hiram and Aurelia were said to be teachers back in New York. They supposedly came to Iowa in a covered wagon about 1839 or 1840.
