William Henry Salls

     William Henry Salls was born on 14 June 1826 at Canada; info from death cert. He was the son of Stephen Hix Salls and Lydia Flagg. William Henry Salls married Mary Berry circa 1850. William Henry Salls died on 4 September 1904 at Port Henry, Essex Co, New York, at age 78. He was buried at Union Cemetery, Port Henry, Essex Co, New York.
     William Henry Salls had lived in Westport for about 10 years by the time the 1865 state census was taken. He appeared on the census of 8 June 1865 at Westport, Essex Co, New York; William H. Salls, 38, b. Clinton Co; Mary, 33, b. Canada, Elizabeth, 15, and Edward, 12, both born Essex Co.¹ He appeared on the census of 15 June 1870 at Westport, Essex Co, New York; William, aged 45; Mary, aged 38; Libbie, aged 20, born NY; and Edward, aged 17, also born NY.² He appeared on the census of 12 June 1900 at William Street, Moriah, Essex Co, New York; William Salls was aged shown as aged 68, born 1831 in Canada. He had been married 50 years to Mary, aged 61, born NY, parents born Canada. She had two children, both living. Mary Gregory, "niece", aged 16, born VT, was living with them.³
