Horace John Tryon was born in 1868; Judy Mott Strong, on 5 July 2000, posted to the Franklin Co GenForum Board that Horace was a nephew of Catherine Palmer and of the Mott family. His mother died several days after his birth, and John and Catherine raised him. He supposedly always used the Tryon surname, but the Mott connection is documented in Probate Court records which list his adoption.
Within an Infant Estate record (Basement Files) in Malone, New York, it is documented that John C. Mott and wife Jane had both died and left two children: Sarah Ellen, b. 17 Jan 1864, who married Charles Williams, and Horace John, b. 15 Feb 1868, both of whom were underage, and were taken in by John W. Tryon and his wife. It was mentioned that John C. Mott was Catherine's uncle. He was the son of John William Tryon and Catherine Palmer. Horace John Tryon died on 17 December 1950 at Maynard, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts.1,2 He was buried in 1950 at Moira Cemetery, Moira, Franklin Co, New York.
