Elmer E. Tryon was born on 4 July 1863 at St Lawrence Co, New York.1,2 He was the son of David Tryon and Melinda Jenkins. Elmer E. Tryon married Vina L. Ellis, daughter of Darius Ellis, in 1883 at South Dakota.3,2 Elmer E. Tryon died on 1 July 1919 at Potsdam, St Lawrence Co, New York, at age 55; Elmer E. Tryon, one of Potsdam's respected citizens died at his home on Elm Street, Tuesday, July 1, as the result of a shock. He had gone to work that morning apparently as well as ever in his life. At eleven o'clock he suffered a stroke at the mill and was brought home. Two more followed and he died about one o'clock.
Mr. Tryon was born in Brookdale July 4, 1863. His wife was Miss Vina Ellis of this place.
For some years Mr. Tryon was in the west for Mr. Allison of Malone, later he had a farm west of the village here and for some time past he has been the "Safety first" man at the Racquette River Paper Company's mill at Unionville.
Funeral services were held at the house Thursday afternoon, Rev. M.D. Sill officiating with interment at Bayside.4,3 He was buried at Bayside Cemetery, Potsdam, St Lawrence Co, New York.5
Elmer E. Tryon was issued 138.4 acress in Township 114-N, Hand County, South Dakota on 14 January 1888.6 He appeared on the census of 4 June 1900 at Stockholm, St Lawrence Co, New York; Elmer Tryon, 36, butter maker, and wife Vina, 32, both born NY. They had been married 12 years and had no children.2 He appeared on the census of 22 April 1910 at Potsdam, St Laurence Co, New York; Darius I. Ellis, 65, Alice M., 64 and dau Vina L. Tyon, 43. The census indicated that Vina had been married for 22 years, with no children.7
