John Mawson

     John Mawson was born circa 1828.² He was the son of William Mawson.¹ John Mawson was christened on 24 October 1828 at Wortley, Yorks, England.¹ He married Sarah Pearson, daughter of Joseph Pearson and Mary Dean, on 19 April 1851 at St Peter's, Leeds, Yorks, England; John Mawson was aged 23, and a fire brickmaker; Sarah was aged 24, and both were residents of Wortley. John's father, William, was a clothier, and Sarah's father, Joseph, was a commercial traveller.²
     John Mawson appeared on the census of 1861 at Wortley, Yorks, England; John Mawson, 33, Sarah, 35, Mary E., 7, William H., 4 and Joseph Dean, 45, lodger.³
