Homer M. Wise was born on 25 November 1846 at Dunham, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.1 He was the son of George Lewis Salls and Rachel Scott.1 Homer M. Wise married Maria Kalteau on 9 September 1868 at Sheboggon Falls, Wisconsin.1 Homer M. Wise died on 2 July 1904 at Spencer, Dickinson Co, Iowa, at age 57.1
There is conflicting evidence over whether Homer's last name was Salls, Sarles, Searls or Wise. His military discharge was under Homer Searles. A pension document refers to his wife as Maria Wise, "widow of Homer Wise alias Homer Searles".1
