     John William Fenton was born circa May 1860 at Holbeck, Yorks, England.1 He was the son of George Heald Fenton and Jane Catherine Lewis. John William Fenton married Mary Ann Smith, daughter of Edward S. Smith and Elizabeth Curry, on 25 December 1880 at St Matthew's, Holbeck, Yorks, England; John William Lewis? Fenton, aged 20, mason, and Mary Ann Smith, 18, were both of Holbeck.2,3 John William Fenton died on 1 November 1937 at Laramie Co, Wyoming.4 He was buried at Lakeview Cemetery, Cheyenne, Laramie Co, Wyoming.4
     He appeared on the census of 1881 at 8 Potter Row, Hunslet, Leeds, Yorks, England; John Wm. Fenton, 20, b. Holbeck, stone mason, and Mary Ann, 19, b. Leeds, Weaver (Woollen) (Cloth Mill).1
