Paul Carrigan and his brothers Patrick and Peter were originally from Ireland and were living on part of the Saratoga patent when the War broke out. Paul's statement [ NAC, A.O. 13 Vol 12, Reel B-2185, pp. 29-32] tells us that the Americans had insisted they join their Army, and not wanting to side with them, they fled their property and country in October 1776 and joined Jessups Corps. Paul Carrigan stated their loss in property to be 563 pounds.
