     Joseph Perley Wood was born on 2 March 1883 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.1 He was the son of William Judson Wood and Eveline Daley. Joseph Perley Wood married Margaret Ann Thorne, daughter of Elias Thorne, on 30 June 1903 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.2 Joseph Perley Wood died on 3 March 1965 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick, at age 82; In the Parish of Simonds March 3, 1965, Joseph P. Wood, aged 82 years of 309 Rothesay Ave., survived by three sons, two daughters, one brother, one sister, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several nephews and nieces. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home from where the funeral will be held Saturday with service at 2 p.m. Interment in Fernhill Cemetery.3 He was buried on 6 March 1965 at Fernhill Cemetery, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; "The funeral...was held Saturday from Brenan's Funeral Home. Service was conducted by Rev. Raymond J. Warner of the Tabernacle Baptist Church. Pallbearers were Hartley S. Wood, William R. Wood, Joseph R. Wood, Harold E. Wood, Joseph F. Wood and Kenneth Northrup...."4,5
     Joseph was the plant superintendent for Crosby Molasses Company. He appeared on the census of 1911 at 167 Westmoreland St., Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; Joseph Wood, 38, Margaret, 38, Mabel, 6, Hartley, 3 and brother William, 19. The family was Baptist.6 He lived in 1923 at Marsh Road; He was listed as foreman, Crosby Molasses, Co, Ltd.7 He was appointed Justice of the Peace on 30 April 1943 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.8
