Nathan McLellan

M, b. circa 1806, d. 22 March 1891
     Nathan McLellan was born circa 1806 at Pictou, Pictou Co, Nova Scotia.1 He married Rebecca Wood, daughter of William D. Wood and Olivia Hovey Williams, on 26 March 1840 at Gardner's Creek, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; "On Thursday last at Gardner's Creek by the Rev. William Andrew, Mr. Nathan McLellan to Miss Rebecca Wood both of the Parish of Simonds."2 Nathan McLellan died on 22 March 1891 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; He died in his 86th year of heart disease and his funeral was held at his late residence at 181 Erin Street. The burial permit tells that he was a ship carpenter.1,3 He was buried on 24 March 1891 at Church of England Cemetery, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.
     He and Rebecca Wood lived between 1864 and 1865 at Windsor, Hants Co, Nova Scotia; Nathan McLellan, ship carpenter, house on Water n King.4 Nathan McLellan and Rebecca Wood lived between 1869 and 1870 at Portland, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; Nathan McLellan, carpenter, house on City Road.5 Nathan McLellan appeared on the census of 1881 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; Nathan McLellen, 75, born NS, ship wright; Rebecca, 61, born NS, Mary O. 24, and Janie 22, both born NB. The girls were shirt makers. The household was Baptist. Mary and Jennie were children of Edward McLean and wife Hannah Wood, sister to Rebecca Wood McLellan. After Edward's death they both went to live with the McLellans.6
