Richard Fadden was born on 31 March 1826 at Missisquoi Co, Quebec.1 He was the son of Comfort William Fadden and Nancy Scott. Richard Fadden was baptized on 29 August 1832 at St George's Anglican Church, Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.1 He married Mary Ann Dugan on 21 October 1876 at Saint Albans, Franklin Co, Vermont.2 Richard Fadden died on 29 September 1912 at Vermont at age 86.
Richard first enlisted at Salem, New York on 1 Apr 1864. He enlisted in Company U, New York 16th Heavy Artillery Regiment on 05 Jan 1864.
Mustered out on 29 Jun 1865 at David's Island, NY Harbor.3 He appeared on the census of 19 June 1900 at Bennington, Bennington Co, Vermont; Richard was then aged 73 years old, and residing in the Vermont State Soldiers Home. He had been married for 45 years, was a naturalized citizen and had come to the US in 1863.4
