Edward
Howard was born on 19 December 1765; Edward is the only surviving child of John and Lucy Howard. Nothing is known of his seven younger siblings.

John Howard and
Lucy (?). Edward Howard married
Frances Smith, daughter of
Nathan Smith and
Elizabeth Betts, before 1801 at
Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick. Edward Howard married
Ann Whitlock, daughter of
Thomas Whitlock and
Ann (?), on 16 April 1805 at
Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick. Edward Howard died on 5 January 1817 at
Cocaigne, Kent Co, New Brunswick, at age 51.
1 Edward Howard and his wife Ann Whitlock were of New Castle, Northumberland County, New Brunswick when they sold John Thompson of Saint John Lot #9 on Prince William Street in the city in 1813 [Saint John Land Records, #1932, registered 26 November 1813]. " In the afternoon [10 Jul 1813] we arrived at the Cocagne river where I halted for the night at the house of Captain Howard who for many yearshad commanded a merchant ship and now was established as a magistrate and shop or store keeper...My host was the only man of business, shopkeeper and magistrate within 30 miles of his residence, and he expressed his intention to offer himself at the next election to represent the county, and utterly threw up the command of the militia of his neighborhood because he did not succeed to the command of the 2nd Battalion. I fiund him however an intelligent man but entirely absorbed in county politics and quarrels. He entertained up hospitably and in the evening at low water we gathered delicious oysters from the bed."...
"In the immediate vicinity of Captain Howard's establishmenet the lands are remarkably light and barren, which is indicated by the wild strawberry, which were now ripe and covering the fields in such quantaties to give them a scarlet appearance."...
