     Joseph Benjamin was born on 23 July 1846 at Gardner's Creek, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.1 He was the son of William Henry Benjamin and Mary Elizabeth Wood. Joseph Benjamin married Elizabeth Simon in 1875 at Saint John Co, New Brunswick; Witnesses were Elizabeth Simon and William Henry Cochran.2 Joseph Benjamin died on 21 July 1927 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick, at age 80; For some reason, Mrs Harris Davidson gave the information that his parents were Joseph "Benjiman" and ? Dunlop, and his birth as 22 July 1844. He was living at Gardner's Creek, East End.3,4 He was buried at Bain's Corner, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.4
     He appeared on the census of 1881 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; Joseph Benjamin, 36, born NB, farmer; and wife Elizabeth, 26. They were Presbyterian.5 He appeared on the census of 1901 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; Joseph Benjamin, 54 and Elizabeth, 50, were living next to his brother Nathan and his family.1 He appeared on the census of 1911 at Gardners Creek, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; Joseph Benjamin, 66 and Elizabeth, 60.6
