Mary Matthews

     Mary Matthews was born on 1 May 1816 at Scotland. She married Joseph Williams Beynon, son of Morgan/James Beynon and Hannah Williams, after 28 March 1835 at Halifax, Halifax Co, Nova Scotia.¹ A bond for the marriage of Mary Matthews and Joseph Williams Beynon was signed on 28 March 1835 at Halifax, Halifax Co, Nova Scotia; Joseph Beynon, bachelor of Halifax, confectioner, signed a marriage bond to Mary Mathews 28 March 1835. James Mathews [Matthews] of Halifax also signed the bond.¹ Mary Matthews died on 10 October 1890 at Providence, Providence Co, Rhode Island, at age 74; She was said to have been born in Scotland. She died of heart disease at the age of 74 years, 5 months and 9 days.² She was buried on 13 October 1890 at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence, Providence Co, Rhode Island; Group 2 Lot 10.
     She and Welcome Augustus Johnson appeared on the census of 9 June 1880 at Providence, Providence Co, Rhode Island; Welcome A. Johnson, 37, b. RI; Mary E., 33, Edward F., 8, Mary E., 6, Walter E., 3, Everett, 2 and Mary Beynon, mother-in-law, 64. Mary Beynon's father was said to have been born in Nova Scotia and her mother in New Brunswick.³
