William John Darrah

     William John Darrah was born on 12 July 1862 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.¹ He was the son of John Darrah and Rebecca Jones. William John Darrah married Margaret A. Ellis on 25 October 1899 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.² William John Darrah died on 9 February 1929 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick, at age 66.³ He was buried on 11 February 1929 at Old Cedar Hill Cemetery, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; This writer received information long ago that William was buried at Fernhill Cemetery, but a letter from Cedar Hill says he is buried there in Lot 206 E1/2, and hhis arrangements were made by Chamberlain's Funeral Home. The lot was originally purchased by Mrs. William Flewelling in 1919 but was transferred to Mrs. James Daye on 24 Apr 1929.⁴
     He appeared on the census of 1901 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; Wm J. Darragh, 38, Margaret A., 35, along with stepchildren, James A Little, 10, Elizabeth Little, 9, Frederick W. Little, 8, Harold A. Little, 5 and Stanly R. Little, 3. There was also a William J. Little, aged 40, boarding with the family. William Darrah worked for the Railroad.⁵ He lived in 1923 at 98r Winter Street; William was a listed as a gardener in the city directory.⁶
