     Mary Jane McGaw was born on 26 August 1881 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.1 She was the daughter of James Archibald McGaw and Rachel Howard Wood. Mary Jane McGaw married Burfield J. Barton on 19 January 1910 at 134 City Road, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; "A quiet wedding was solemnized last evening at the home of the bride's father, 134 City Road, when Miss May J., dau of Mr. James McGaw, was united in marriage to Mr. Burfield Barton of this city. The ceremony was performed by Rev. W.R. Robinson. Mr. and Mrs. Barton will reside on Watson Street, West End. Mr. Barton is a street railway conductor on the Carleton loop, and his car was gaily decorated yesterday by his fellow employees in honor of the happy event."2,3 Mary Jane McGaw died on 4 July 1970 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick, at age 88. She was buried on 6 July 1970 at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; Lot 569.4
      Mary Jane McGaw was also known as May McGaw. She lived in 1970 at 39 Lakeview Drive.5
