     Barret McKenzie Patterson was born on 13 April 1874 at Amherst, Cumberland Co, Nova Scotia. He was the son of William Gillies Patterson and Rachel Campbell Kerr Howard. Barret McKenzie Patterson married Mamie Coleman on 7 July 1909 at Port Arthur, Jefferson Co, Texas.1 Barret McKenzie Patterson died on 10 January 1910 at Port Arthur, Jefferson Co, Texas, at age 35.1
     Barret supposedly ran away from home at an early age. He was in jail for a time, possible in Jacksonville, Florida, for aiding a sailor to go AWOL. He is said to have married and had at least one child, but nothing more is known about them. Barret Patterson was killed in a dock accident in Texas, and he may be buried in Jacksonville.
