     Joseph M. Starr was born in February 1848 at Pennsylvania.2 He married Louisa Cordelia Scott, daughter of Samuel Scott and Sarah Matilda Hazen, on 12 January 1869 at Boone Co, Iowa.3,4
     Joseph M. Starr appeared on the census of 30 June 1880 at Des Moines, Polk Co, Iowa; Joseph M. Starr, 33, b. PA, wife Lou, 30, b. VT and daughter Maud, 9, b. IA.1 He appeared on the census of 25 June 1900 at Cherokee, Cherokee Co, Iowa; Joseph M. Starr, 52, wife Louisia C., 49, married 30 years, having had one child, none living. Joseph was the City Marshall.5 He appeared on the census of 28 April 1910 at Cherokee, Cherokee Co, Iowa; Joseph M. Starr, 63, and his wife Louisa, 59. This census said she had one child and one living.6
