Eleanor J. Darrah

     Eleanor J. Darrah was born on 26 August 1861 at New Brunswick. She was the daughter of John Darrah and Rebecca Jones. Eleanor J. Darrah was born on 20 August 1866 at New Brunswick.¹ She married John Nisbet, son of Oliver Nisbet and Mary Stewart, on 11 October 1886 at FCB Church on Waterloo Street, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick. Eleanor J. Darrah married William Alexander Ward, son of William Ward and Jane (?), on 24 September 1896 at Saint John Co, New Brunswick.² Eleanor J. Darrah died on 7 March 1930 at 10 Millidgeville Avenue, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick, at age 68; Eleanor's obituary appeared in Saint John's Evening Times Globe on Saturday, 8 March 1930. "Following a lingering illness...died on Friday at her residence, 10 Millidgeville Avenue, at the age of 57 years. She leaves to mourn one daughter, Mrs. Stanley Wood of Boston, and three step-daughters, Mrs. George Maynes of this city; Miss Charlotte Ward of Beverly, Mass, and Mrs. J. Cheaney of Montreal. One sister, Mrs. James Daye of Main Street, North End, also survive[sic].)

There has been no death certificate for Eleanor with the records of the PANB.³ She was buried on 9 March 1930 at Church of England Cemetery, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.
      As of 1896, Eleanor J. Darrah was also known as Ellen Nesbitt.² She appeared on the census of 1901 at 102 Winter Street, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; Living with her and Alexander Ward were his daughters, Jenny M., 7; Lottie C., 5, their daughter Olive I., 3, as well as her daughter, Ella May Nesbitt, then aged 10. Eleanor's mother was not far away at that time, residing at 98 Winter Street.⁴
