William Alexander Ward was born in October 1850 at New Brunswick; The 1901 census incorrectly lists him as born 5 Dec 1863. All members of his family were listed incorrectly for that census.2,3 He was the son of William Ward and Jane (?).1 William Alexander Ward married Jessie Campbell, daughter of Ephraim Campbell, before 1884. William Alexander Ward married Eleanor J. Darrah, daughter of John Darrah and Rebecca Jones, on 24 September 1896 at Saint John Co, New Brunswick.4 William Alexander Ward died on 25 April 1933 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick, at age 82.5
He appeared on the census of 1901 at 102 Winter Street, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; Alexander Ward, 37, Ella J., 34, Jennie M., 7, Lottie C., 5, Olive I. 3, along with his step-daughter, Ella M., 10. The ages, as well as birth dates given in this record are all very far off. This writer is not sure who gave the information, but they not only gave incorrect ages, but also month and day of birth for most. This record can not be used for anything more than a record of residence in 1901.6,7 He appeared on the census of 1911 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; Alexander Ward, 60, wife Ellen, 49, and Ella, 23. Ella was listed as daughter and under the name Ward, rather than Nisbet.3 He lived in 1923 at 108 Pond, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; William Alexander Ward was listed as a chauffeur for W.H. Thorne & Co, Ltd. in the city directory.8
