     Rebecca Jones was born circa 1826 at Ireland.1,2 She married John Darrah on 4 December 1860 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; Witnesses were Henry McKay and Eliz. Ann Stackhouse, and the marriage was performed by James Bennett of St Johns Presbyterian Church.
At the time of their marriage, John and Rebecca were both of Portland. John signed his last name Darough and Rebecca could not write.3 A bond for the marriage of Rebecca Jones and John Darrah was signed in 1860 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.4 Rebecca Jones died circa 1915 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.
     She appeared on the census of 10 April 1891 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; Rebecca Darrah was was listed as the head of the household. She was enumerated as a Presbyterian, aged 61, and widowed, born in Ireland, and both parents born Ireland. Daughter Ellen J., aged 30 and her husband, John Nesbitt, aged 32, were living there with their daughter Ellen M. aged 3, but were listed as Baptists, obviously following John's faith.
Also in the household were Rebecca's sons William, 23 and Joseph A., 21.5 She lived in 1896; City Directories show Rebecca, widow of John was in a house at 10 Haymarket Square, as were dau Mary and Mrs. Ella Nisbett.6 She appeared on the census of 1901 at 98 Winter Street, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; Rebecca Darrah was shown as being 75 yrs old, born 1826, no month or day listed. She was enumerated as having come from Ireland in 1848. She was shown as a widow, a Presbyterian and living alone in the household.1 She lived in 1906 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; The city directory for 1906 places Rebecca Jones Darrah at 98 Winter Street, with her son William, and she is listed as widow of John.6 She appeared on the census of 1911 at 98R Winter St, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; Rebecca Darrah, 86, b. Ireland and son William J., 45, b. NB. Both were Anglican. There is no month and day listed so it is likely she did not know when her birthday was, especially since this was the same case for the 1901 census.2 She lived in 1914 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; The Saint John City Directory of 1914 shows Rebecca Darrah, widow of John, living at 98 Winter Street, living with her son William. The 1915 and 1916 directories show only her son William. It is assumed she died c1915, although no burial permit has surfaced.6
