William Dyer

     William Dyer was born circa 1653 at England. He was the son of William Dyer. William Dyer married Mary Taylor, daughter of Dr. Henry Taylor and Lydia Hatch, in December 1686.¹ William Dyer died on 27 July 1738 at Truro, Barnstable Co, Massachusetts.^2,3 He was buried at Truro Old North Cemetery, Truro, Barnstable Co, Massachusetts.^2,3
     William Dyer removed from Barnstable, Massachusetts soon after the birth of his children, to live in Truro. One author says that Dr. Dyer "had a knack of keeping in hot water with his neighbors, and...had a spice in his temper, known by the name of perserverance in good cause, and obstinancy in a bad one."
William was possibly a descendant of William Dyer of Rhode Island or, perhaps, of William Dyer of Sheepscot, Maine. Neither or the two separate claims have been proven [1998].³
