     Zebedee Hammond Jr was born circa 1781.1 He was the son of Zebedee Hammond and Martha Bennett. Zebedee Hammond Jr died on 29 August 1798 at Fredericton, York Co, New Brunswick; "Died at Fredericton, on Wednesday, the 29th of August, Zebedee Hammond, late a fifer in the King's New Brunswick Regiment, aged 17 years, he was seemingly in perfect health when he dropt down in an epileptic fit, and in a minute expired; every effort to recover him proving fruitless. He was a dutiful youth, of virtuous principles, beloved and respected by all who knew him."2
     Zebedee Hammond enlisted in Captain Peter Clinch's Company on 13 Jan 1794. He and brother Nathaniel were both part of the "King's New Brunswick Regiment" which was headquartered at Fredericton. This particular militia was raised in 1793 in fear of invasion by the French.
