Edmund Littlefield was baptized on 27 June 1592 at Titchfield, Hants Co, England.1 He was born in 1591 at Exeter, Devonshire, England.2 He was the son of Francis Littlefield and Mary (?). Edmund Littlefield married Annis Austin, daughter of Richard Austin and Annis (?), on 16 October 1614 at St. Peter's Church, Titchfield, Hants Co, England; He lived in the centre of the village in the cottages now known as Barry's Cottages.

Edmund Littlefield died between 11 December 1661 and 24 December 1661 at Wells, York Co, Maine.4
Edmund Littlefield left Titchfield, England around 1636/7 with a few of his sons. His wife Annis and the rest of the children sailed for Exeter, New Hampshire on the ship "Bevis" in 1638. He and his family eventually settled in Wells, York County, Maine, where he had received 200 acres on the western bank of the Ogunquit River.
On arrival in the New World Edmund set to work and by 1643, he had erected a sawmill on the Webhannet River. (Webhannet is the Indian name for Wells, Maine). He went on to build sawmills on contract for others.2
