     Richard Rossiter was born before 1463 at Somerset, England. He was the son of William Rossiter and Joan (?). Richard Rossiter married Elizabeth Perye, daughter of William Perye and ? Fry, circa 1490 at Somerset, England.1 Richard Rossiter died on 3 September 1529 at England.
     In 1524 Richard "Rosseltur", gentleman, and his son-in-law William Hartgill were jurors at the "inquisistion post mortem" of William Long of Shaftsbury, co. Dorset. Richard Rossiter was also the very first proved land owner at Combe St. Nicholas. He was called Richard "Rocetr" at his own "inquisition post mortem" held at Ilminster, Somerset. He then owned in the parish 4 messuages and 543 acres of land. When he died in 1529, his son Philip was aged 30 or more and named as his heir.
