Alexander Hepburn was born circa 1775 at Scotland.1 He married Mabel Belding, daughter of Daniel Belding and Mabel Bristall, on 24 November 1802 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; The newspaper notice said they were married by Dr. Byles and Mabel was the daughter of Capt. Daniel Belding of "this city."2 Alexander Hepburn died on 18 November 1842 at Musquash, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; "d. Musquash, Friday morn, 18th instant...age 67, native of Scotland, left wife, 5 children, Funeral Sunday one o'clock."

An Indenture was made on 18 Mar 1801 between Hugh Johnston, merchan and his wife, Ann, and Alexander Hepburn, ship joiner, of the city of Saint John. It involved a parcel of land in King's Ward that was originally granted to Paul Beedle and Joseph Beedle in the original grant of Parr Town. It began at the northwest corner of land owned by Robet Blackwood fronting on Dock Street, and bordered land owned by John Melick and William Caswell. Measurements and other near property owners were also given. Alexander Hepburn paid them £130.4
