     Mabel Belding was born on 18 December 1783 at New Haven, New Haven Co, Connecticut. She was the daughter of Daniel Belding and Mabel Bristall. Mabel Belding married Alexander Hepburn on 24 November 1802 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; The newspaper notice said they were married by Dr. Byles and Mabel was the daughter of Capt. Daniel Belding of "this city."1 Mabel Belding died on 12 October 1866 at Carleton, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick, at age 82; Death notice in "Christian Visitor" [Saint John] dated 18 Oct 1866 says she died the October the 12th, aged 85, "widow of Alexander Hepburn, and one of the first Loyalists who landed in this Province." The "Morning News" [Saint John] dated the 15th of October adds that her funeral would be held at 9 o'clock, Monday morning (the 15th) from her residence on Gifford Street. She was buried on 15 October 1866 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.
     Land Record #18620 has an Indenture recorded 19 June 1859 between John Johnstone, Esquire, of Saint John city, and Mabel Hepburn, widow of the late Alexander Hepburn of Musquash, parish of Lancaster. Margaret Johnstone, widow, did by indenture, 20 August 1847 release unto John Johnstone land formerly granted to Donald Campbell.
Record #18621 is a Mortgage between Mabel Hepburn and Charles and Benjamin Lawton. For 120 pounds paid to her, land consisting of the same tract as above - southern half part of the grant to Donald Campbell in Musquash which was conveyed to her by John Johnston. Beginning on the south easterly corner bounds of a tract of land granted to Thomas Menzies running by the Magnetic Needle along the southerly line of the said tract south 78 degrees West 93 chains of four poles each or until it meets the easterly line of a tract of land granted to one Gabriel Debeber south...until it meets the northerly bank or shore of Musquash Cove...2,3
