Mabel Bristall was born on 10 August 1763 at New Haven, New Haven Co, Connecticut; This writer had contacted the Bristall/Bristol Family Society in CT and they had no other info other than what I already had - that according to New Haven records Mabel had "died" 10 Aug 1763 in New Haven.
The Belding Family Bible handed down shows Mabel Bristol was born 10 Aug 1763. There was obviously a grave error in the record in Connecticut and mistaken as a death when it should have been a birth record. Even though I always placed that as an error on the town's part, Harry MacDonald's info on the Belding Family Bible has set this in stone for me. Mabel was definitely the daughter of David Bristol and Mabel Thomas. No one can convince this writer otherwise.1 She was the daughter of David Bristol and Mabel Thomas. Mabel Bristall married Daniel Belding, son of Jared Belding and Dinah Thomas. Mabel Bristall died on 29 January 1851 at Chance Harbour, Saint John Co, New Brunswick, at age 87; "d. Chance Harbour, 29th ult....age 87, arrived with Loyalists in 1783, left progeny of three generations."2
We also know there was a close tie between the Thomas and Belding families. Thomas Thomas, Loyalist from New Haven, CT appears to have ended up in Mispec, dying there 8 July 1831. I do not have a full copy of the obit from the NB Courier, 16 July 1831, but a correspondent wrote me that it said he arrived in New Brunswick in 1783, and was aged 85 upon death. Apparently, he was a silversmith from New York and arrived on the Hopewell with the June fleet of 1783, living in Saint John for 40 years and then moved to Mispec where several members of his family had previously settled. Thomas Thomas was born in New Haven as well. Felix Thomas was buried next to Daniel Belding in Chance Harbour, and Felix was son of Samuel Thomas who was a brother to Thomas Thomas.3
