     Joseph Stanley was born in May 1830 at Mispec, Saint John Co, New Brunswick. He was the son of Job Stanley and Margaret Cronk. Joseph Stanley married Eliza Brown on 16 December 1854 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.1 Joseph Stanley died on 17 February 1910 at Bar Harbor, Hancock Co, Maine, at age 79; The certificate states he was a sea captain, as was his father.2 He was buried at Hillside Cemetery, Hulls Cove, Hancock Co, Maine.3
     He appeared on the census of 14 June 1900 at Eden, Hancock Co, Maine; Joseph Stanly, 70 (May 1830), father b. New Brunswick, mother b. Nova Scotia, Eliza, 63, b. NB (parents b. Ireland) married 46 years, 9 children, 7 living. He had arrived in the US in 1886, and son Robert E., 36, was living with him.4
