George Bass

M, b. circa 1862, d. 5 September 1887
     George Bass was born circa 1862 at New Brunswick.1 He married Adelia Hattie Stanley, daughter of Andrew Stanley and Levina Cronk, on 11 June 1882 at Grand Manan, Charlotte Co, New Brunswick.2 George Bass died on 5 September 1887; Lost in a gale while dispatched with the schooner "Nellie C. Woodbury". Their dories were upset and six men were lost, five from Grand Manan, including : "George Thomas, who leaves a wife and five children, George Bass who leaves a wife and two children...and William Stanley...unmarried."3
     He appeared on the census of 1881 at Grand Manan, Charlotte Co, New Brunswick; In 1881, George Bass was 19, and living with Samuel Thomas and his family.1
