     Alfred Stanley was born on 15 April 1827 at Grand Manan, Charlotte Co, New Brunswick; The late registration of his son Peter Dixon Stanley indicated that Alfred was born in Moose River, Maine. Peter also gave that same info as informant for his father's death certificate.1,2 He was the son of John Stanley and Mary Esther Woodbury. Alfred Stanley married Rachel Lindsey on 5 November 1857 at Grand Manan, Charlotte Co, New Brunswick.3 Alfred Stanley died on 13 November 1897 at Grand Manan, Charlotte Co, New Brunswick, at age 70; Alfred was said to have drowned.
     He appeared on the census of 1871 at Grand Manan, Charlotte, New Brunswick; Alfred Stanley, 46, Rachel, 35, Charles, 10, Lewis, 8, Elizabeth, 6, Albert, 5, Ann, 3 and twins Nellia nd Nancy, 3 mos. The family was Baptist.4
