John Matthews

M, b. 15 October 1851, d. 2 January 1917
     John Matthews was born on 15 October 1851 at Passakeag, Kings Co, New Brunswick.1 He married Margaret Biggar in 1876.2 John Matthews married Mary Olivia McLean, daughter of Edward McLean and Hannah Wood, on 9 September 1891 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.3 John Matthews died on 2 January 1917 at 272 Wentworth Street, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick, at age 65; John Matthews passed away at 272 Wentworth Street at the age of 67 years. He left a daughter, three brothers and three sisters.4 He was buried at Methodist Burying Ground, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.
     He appeared on the census of 1901 at Wellington Ward, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; John Matthews, 50, Mary O., 45, Jennie, 8, Allan, 4, stepdaus Ida, 20, and Nellie, 17, along with sis-in-law, Jennie McLean, 43.1
