Elizabeth Wait

     Elizabeth Wait was born on 10 June 1799; It is likely that Elizabeth was born in New York.¹ She was the daughter of Briggs Wait and Mary Sheer/Shier. Elizabeth Wait was baptized on 6 August 1815 at Caldwell's Manor, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.² She married Samuel Durgin Welch on 5 April 1818 at Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec; In 1838 the Welchs resided in Hinchenbrooke, PQ.² Elizabeth Wait married Loyal Oliver after 1841. Elizabeth Wait died after 28 March 1862 at Lacolle, Iberville Co, Quebec.
     A Quitclaim by Elizabeth Wait, "actual wife of Loyal Oliver" to Enoch Wait, her brother, passed before Brassard, notary on 28 March 1862. She and her husband released all property, moveable and immoveable, "belonging to and constituting the estate, or which may have belonged to the estate and succession of the late Mary Sheer, their mother and mother-in-law." It involved land known as Lot #1, in the 1st Concession of the Seigniory of Noyan, said parish of Clarenceville, on Indian Point - land then occupied by John Allen.
