Robert Hibbert was born in March 1612/13 at Salisbury, Wiltshire, England.1 He was the son of John Hibbard and Joan Fairfield. Robert Hibbert was baptized on 13 March 1613 at St Edmunds Parish, Salisbury, Wiltshire, England.1 He married Joanna (?), daughter of Bridget (?), before 1641. Robert Hibbert died on 7 May 1684 at Beverly, Essex Co, Massachusetts, at age 71; Robert had made a Will on 9 Apr 1684, but only made his mark, even though he could write. He must have been in very poor health at this point. The inventory of the estate was £281.6.6.2
According to the Annals of Salem, ii, 175,176, Robert and Joan were of Salem by 1639, and he was a salt maker
Robert Hibbard of Salem, Massachusetts was admitted to church communion 3 May 1646, along with his wife Joan, and also had his children baptised.
He owned about 13 acres along the Bass River in, having purchased it from William Hascoll in 1659. Another deed, dated 18 Nov 1664, included a parecl on Cape Ann. Robert lived on the south side of Colon Street in Salem. In later years, Robert was referred to as a bricklayer.2
