     John Somes was born on 22 April 1648 at Gloucester, Essex Co, Massachusetts; JOhn became a cooper and moved to Boston. He joined the Quakers and was persecuted like so many others at that time. He was apprehended twice in 1677 at their place of worship and whipped.1 He was the son of Morris Somes and Elizabeth Kendall. John Somes died on 16 November 1700 at Boston, Suffolk Co, Massachusetts, at age 52.2 He was buried at Copp's Hill Cemetery, Boston, Suffolk Co, Massachusetts.2
