Enoch Wait was born on 24 May 1807 at Christie's Manor, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.1 He was the son of Briggs Wait and Mary Sheer/Shier. Enoch Wait was baptized on 6 August 1815 at Caldwell's Manor, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.2 He married Margaret Patterson, daughter of Danforth Patterson and Chloe Smith, circa 1829. Enoch Wait married Emily Caroline Tryon, daughter of Daniel Tryon and Mary Ann Longeway, on 1 November 1843 at Alburgh, Grand Isle Co, Vermont.3 Enoch Wait died on 31 October 1869 at Georgeville Congregational Church, Stanstead, Stanstead Co, Quebec, at age 62. He has also be reported to have been died 24 October 1869 Stanstead, Stanstead Co, Quebec.4,5 He was buried on 2 November 1869 at Brown's Hill Cemetery, Stanstead, Stanstead Co, Quebec.6
He was Farmer. He appeared on the census of 1851 at Clarenceville, Rouville Co, Quebec; Enoch Wait, 46, b. Canada, Methodist, Emily 25, Emeline, 22, Emily, 2?, Miranda, 15, Laura, ?, Alonzo, 5, and Hiram, 2.7 A Cession & Quitclaim by Briggs Salls was made in favor of Enoch Wait, his son on 29 Mar 1862 by Brassard, notary. He was written as "Briggs Wait, heretofore of the parish of St Thomas and actually of Stanstead"...unto Enoch Salls "his only son", then of "Clarenceville, "and actually of Stanstead", and to Emeline Elmira, daughter of Enoch, to "help and better his said son and granddaughter". The original deed of donation was executed before Leon Dugas 1 June 1846. He left a will on 25 October 1869; Enoch Wait's Will, written just days before he died, gave all to his wife Emily Caroline Tryon. This was passed before the notary, C.A. Richardson.
